La macchina fotografica è per me un blocco di schizzi, lo strumento dell'intuito e della spontaneità. [...] Fotografare è trattenere il respiro quando le nostre facoltà convergono per captare la realtà fugace; a questo punto l'immagine catturata diviene una grande gioia fisica e intellettuale. Fotografare è riconoscere nello stesso istante e in una frazione di secondo un evento e il rigoroso assetto delle forme percepite con lo sguardo che esprimono e significano tale evento. È porre sulla stessa linea di mira la mente, gli occhi e il cuore. È un modo di vivere.

The camera is for me a sketch pad, the instrument of intuition and spontaneity. Photographe is holding your breath when our faculties converge to capture fleeting reality, at which point the captured image becomes a great physical and intellectual joy. Taking pictures is acknowledging at the same time and in a fraction of a second an event and the rigorous arrangement of the forms perceived with the eyes that express and signify that event. Putting on the same line of sight the mind, eyes and heart. It's a way of life.
